Daylesford Meditation Retreat

When: **POSTPONED** – new dates coming soon

Venue: Cedar & Stone, Porcupine Ridge Rd, Glenlyon (8km outside of Daylesford)

Escape the day to day. Reconnect to yourself. Breathe fresh air. And feel alive and revived.

Join us for a weekend of rest and relaxation, delicious vegetarian food, gentle movement and meditation this coming April. Leave feeling refreshed, alive and inspired.

This is a chance to get away and take some time just for yourself in the company of like-minded others. It’s also an opportunity to clear out the mental clutter and reclaim a fresh sense of joy and wonder.

If you’ve never been on a meditation retreat before, this is an ideal place to start. There will be meditation instruction for both beginners and advanced practitioners. The retreat will be fully catered with hearty meals. You will be given plenty of free time and opportunities to read, walk through the surrounding parkland and to appreciate the beautiful scenery.

What to expect

At this retreat there will be periods of sitting meditation, gentle movement (suitable for all levels), talks and group discussion. Free time will be given for you to walk, read and take time off.

We appreciate the need to relax and move at your own pace, therefore most items on the schedule are optional. In other words, you needn’t be up at 6am unless that works for you.

You can find a copy of a previous retreat schedule here.

The talks offered will help support and enrich your independent meditation practice and the teacher-led discussion groups will deepen your understanding and insight from your sittings.

Please note that after Friday evening and outside of talks, group discussions and group interviews, the retreat is conducted in silence. This doesn’t mean that you can’t talk; but it does mean that you are encouraged to respect the wishes of other participants for quiet (especially in and around the bedrooms, within the meditation hall and in the dining area and kitchen). “Honourable Silence” gives you a chance to switch out of the usual way of being polite and social and allows you to be more attuned to your own experience. Retreat participants usually report  (often with delight and surprise) that this is one of the things they like most about the retreat experience.

If you have any questions about this do get in touch.

Teachers & approach

The retreat will be led by Geelong Meditation Centre teacher, Beth Milner with Sophie Aghdami guiding the morning movement sessions

About Beth

Beth’s approach to meditation is gentle and compassionate. Believing that the practice of meditation should be close to effortless, she aims to inspire curiosity, wonder and exploration through her teaching and guidance. Beth shares meditation practices with a loving, modern, thought and emotion friendly flavour to support you in feeling more at home and in rhythm with yourself and in your life. Beth is an accredited meditation teacher and member of the Meditation Association of Australia. She is also a certified addiction recovery coach and training psychotherapist. Beth incorporates elements from her training in modern mindfulness, reflective meditation, processwork psychotherapy and eastern philosophy into her teaching.  But she believes one of the most powerful aspects of her teaching is her openness, sharing real life examples of the benefits of a meditation and reflective practice whilst carefully creating a safe space for others to explore their own inner life with compassion.

About Sophie

Sophie is a yoga teacher with 250h training and deeply dedicated to her practice. She trained in Bali and Australia, and continues to satiate her curiosity with ongoing yogic studies – in Sophie’s eyes, a lifelong practice requires lifelong learning!
Sophie is also a certified addiction recovery coach and accounts much of her personal transformative experiences to yoga and breathwork. Needless to say she loves sharing her knowledge with others.
Both in her yoga classes and her coaching sessions, she thrives on helping others find their experience of ‘flow’ – a state of being in which you are fully immersed and at one with what you are doing. The mental, physical, and spiritual are all in sync working in perfect accord toward reaching the vision.
Sophie is looking forward to seeing you on the mat for nourishing and gentle movement.
